And To Think, Someone Was Going To Eat This!

This thing is ten years old. Ten. Looks just as yummy as the day it was plucked off of the frying pan, don't you think? The real miracle here? The miracle of Velveeta and Wonderbread. Personally, I think it looks a bit more like Greta Garbo than the BVM.

Ten years. Whew!

This is American ingenuity for you. Plastics. Ceramics. Non-perishable perishables. This is what keeps the shuttle hot on the outside and cool on the inside. This is what helped send men to the moon and brought them back again. This is what allows terrestrial, grown-up JPL geeks to run their radio-controlled cars--their "rovers"--roughshod over Maritan Dunes like there is no tomorrow.

This is why America is great. Americans made the cheese, Americans made the bread, Americans made the sandwich, Americans took a bite out of the sandwich, Americans swaddled it in cotton and stuck it in a box, and Americans sold it on eBay. Oh, and Americans bought it. For $27,000. God bless grilled cheese sandwiches, and God bless America!

Somwhere out there, there is a Seven-Eleven Thirsty-Two Ouncer with a Shroud of Turin-esque image of Christ on it that should go great with this sandwich. Somewhere.
